This subtropical columnar cactus ranges from Arizona to South baja Mexico. Growing at first to look much like a common cereus then developing a hairy cephalium from which it flowers in age , from which it makes sweet red fruits. The dried cactus is used as medicine in parts of Mexico. A stately and very interesting cactus to grow in your yard. Hardy to around 25 degrees
