A cousin of the tomato. This species has been seen in multiple ancient cities throughout the Andes from peru, Argentina and chile. A very hardy plant s. Ocranthum grows as a perennial even in colder climates making it the best root stock for whimpy (poodle strains) of tomatoes. The fruit is very sweet but has irritating alkaloid content. Based on its extensive presence still growing wild in ancient cities or archeological sites its reasonable to believe the plant was prepared in a specific way that is currently unknown and used as a food.
