The old books say it in the caper family but newer genetic works is saying it in a family of its own. The lilipop tree is named so because of the shape of the trees form but could also be likened to the candy like fruits. The trees are native to the baja peninsula. This species is dioecious, needing male and female separate trees for fruit. The fruit tastes very sweet and rich and sticky. Almost like peanut butter fruit but more like some kind of taffy candy. Trees should be protected from frost.
