This is a low jungle cousin of the mountainous naranjilla . The flavor has a tartness like a meyor lemon with a smooth creamy texture. The juice is mixed in water to make refreshments and it makes really great jungle salsa. The plants are small just reaching 3 or 4 feet so it can be easilly grown in a pot and protected in cooler climates. This species should handle at least 40-35°F. Leaves are large and soft. Plants are typically spineless.
