One of the chocolate persimmons. There are a few others but this one is most tolerant to cold, down to 15F as well as intense heat and drought. Fruits have a very sweet, smooth and rich chocolately taste.the trees are also very ornamental with rippling white bark . In Texas locals make preserves and sauces with the fruit.
