Grown as an annual. This vine in the cucumber family grows rapidly in rich soil with warm conditions. Plants are self fertile. The fruits are typically eaten green as a vegetable when young and tender. Though the inner red flesh is edible and sweet when fully mature. Green fruits are cooked like zucchini or summer squash having a mild and flavorful taste. The plant is also very ornamental, certainly a conversation starter. My new favorite vegetable!
